On May 26, Mr. Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals' President and Deputy Party Group Secretary and MCC Chairman, met with a delegation led by Mr. Zhang Gujiang, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hebei Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Tangshan Municipal Committee and Mr. Gao Jianmin, Mayor of Tangshan City. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.

Guo Wenqing introduced the achievements and future plans of China Minmetals and MCC since the strategic restructuring of the two Fortune Global 500 companies. He pointed out that in recent years, China Minmetals had thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and continued to build and strengthen the business system featured by "four beams and eight columns" by focusing on metal mining, metallurgical engineering, trade, logistics, finances and the real estate. In terms of metal mining, China Minmetals owns a number of world-class mines such as the Las Bambas copper mine in Peru, the Dugald River zinc mine in Australia and the RAMU nickel and cobalt mine in Papua New Guinea. In terms of metallurgical construction, China Minmetals owns the world's first metallurgical construction enterprise which has 90% of the domestic market share and 60% of the global market share. In the meantime, it has kept exploring new business and has presented a series of prominent projects such as National Sliding Centre, Universal Studios Beijing and Shanghai Disneyland. As for trade and logistics, it boasts a powerful and complete global trade flow network which reaches out to over 60 countries and regions in the world. In terms of finance and real estate, China Minmetals is one of the three central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) with full financial licenses and strong abilities in investment, financing and resource allocation. China Minmetals has two out of the 16 SOEs with real estate as the main businesses determined by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). After attaining the strategic goal of quadrupling in three steps two years ahead of schedule, China Minmetals in 2020 generated a revenue exceeding RMB 700 billion, ranking 92nd in the Fortune Global 500 list. Since then, it has entered a new stage of high-quality development. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China Minmetals set a five-year development goal of "generating revenue of over RMB 1 trillion and doubling profit". In the first quarter of this year, its major business indicators got off to a good start.

Guo Wenqing thanked the Tangshan Municipal Committee and the Tangshan Municipal People's Government for their long-term support to China Minmetals. He pointed out that China Minmetals, MCC and Tangshan City enjoyed a solid cooperative foundation on which the two sides had forged a deep friendship during the long-term cooperation. China MCC22, a subordinate of MCC, was one of the first enterprises to enter Tangshan after the Tangshan earthquake of 1976 to carry out earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction. Since then, China MCC22 has taken root in Tangshan and has become a major driving force in the economic and social development of Tangshan, particularly the iron and steel industry. Entering a new era, China Minmetals has been actively promoting the economic and social development of Tangshan. One of examples is the construction of the 100-million-ton international ore trading center in Caofeidian, which facilitates the transformation of Tangshan's iron and steel industry and the development of port economy, and even escalates China's position in the field of international ore trading. With its strategic layout and business planning in line with Tangshan's economic development goals, China Minmetals has attached great importance to fostering the all-dimensional and multi-tiered cooperation with Tangshan. They are wished to give full play their respective strengths, and broaden and deepen their cooperation in fields such as metallurgical development, infrastructure construction, trade, logistics, new-energy materials, real estate, finance and ecology, environmental protection, in order to realize mutual benefits and common development. China Minmetals is willing to make new and greater contributions to the high-quality transformation and development of Tangshan.

Zhang Gujiang and Gao Jianmin expressed their appreciation for the achievements made by China Minmetals since the strategic restructuring, and extended their gratitude to China Minmetals for its contribution to Tangshan's economic and social development for a long period of time. Zhang Gujiang pointed out that the Hebei Provincial Party Committee and the People's Government of Hebei Province attached great importance to the development of Tangshan and urged Tangshan to take the lead in pursuing development. They said that Tangshan would continue to play a leading role in adjusting structure and promoting reform and to set a good example in promoting the economic development of Hebei Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Besides, they indicated that Tangshan expected to team up with China Minmetals in strengthening inventories, consolidating the increment and optimizing the variable, in order to achieve a higher-level and higher-quality cooperation in new areas, jointly shoulder the mission and create a brighter future. Gao Jianmin hoped that the two sides would deepen their collaboration in Caofeidian 100-million-ton ore trading center and in the fields of iron and steel metallurgy, new energy materials, high-tech industrial park, municipal transportation, infrastructure construction, trade and logistics, and that Tangshan Municipal People's Government would, as always, provide comprehensive and high-quality services for China Minmetals, so as to yield more fruitful results in the cooperation between the two sides.
