China Minmetals Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with China Olympic Committee

On May 6 th, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between China Minmetals Group Co., Ltd and the China Olympic Committee was held at Minmetals Plaza in Beijing. Mr. Guo Wenqing, General Manager and Party Group Deputy Secretary of China Minmetals and also President of MCC Group, and Mr. Gou Zhongwen, Director and Party Group Secretary of the General Administration of Sport, attended the ceremony and jointly witnessed the signing of the contract between the two sides. Before the signing ceremony, the two sides fully exchanged views on strengthening strategic cooperation and jointly building a new model for the Olympic Games.

Mr. Guo Wenqing expressed his welcome for Mr. Gou Zhongwen and his delegation and sincere thanks for the concern and the long-standing support of the General Administration of Sport of China to our corporation. Guo introduced the development since the strategic recombination of the former China Minmetals and the MCC Group, two of the Fortune Global 500. He pointed out that China Minmetals has taken the lead in opening up the whole industry chain from resource acquisition to exploration, design, construction, mining, mineral processing, smelting, logistics and trade since the strategic reorganization in December 2015. China Minmetals, as one of the first state-owned capital investment companies in China's metal mining sector, carries the mission of ensuring the supply of national metal resources and is committed to building "China First, World Leading" metal mining enterprise group. In 2018, China Minmetals delivered over RMB 500 billion in operating income together with the best profit performance and the total under-management financial assets of RMB1.86 trillion, hitting record highs.

Now, China Minmetals is building a business system featured by “four beams and eight columns” regarding metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade logistics, and finance and real estate. In the field of metals and mining, China Minmetals has developed and operated world-class mines such as Las Bambas Copper Mine, Dugald River Zinc Mine, and Papua New Guinea Ramu Nickel Mine. In the field of metallurgical construction, MCC serves as a pioneer and a new force in China’s steel industry, making up 90% and 60% of the share of domestic and global metallurgical construction markets, respectively. In the field of trade logistics, China Minmetals has established trade outlets in more than 60 countries and regions around the world. In the field of finance and real estate, China Minmetals has a full financial license and robust capabilities for investment and financing and resources allocation. Minmetals Land and MCC Real Estate are two of 16 real estate enterprises identified by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). In addition, with 37 national scientific and technological innovation platforms and key laboratories, China Minmetals is a well-deserved leader in technology and innovation in central enterprises.

Guo stressed that the General Administration of Sport which shoulders the national responsibility of developing sports, strengthening the physique of the people, and leading the development of high-quality sports in China, has continuously push our country forward from a great sports country to a sports power with a series of reform and innovation measures. China Minmetals and MCC Group attach great importance to the exchange and cooperation with the State General Administration of Sports and actively promote the development of national sports, successfully participating in the construction of the National Stadium (Birds Nest), Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, Shanghai World Expo China Pavilion, Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center, APEC Sunrise East Kempinski Hotel, The 7th CISM Military World Games (Wuhan), Universiade Shenzhen, The 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games etc., as well as stepping up the construction of Yanqing national sleigh race track for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. In addition, we also have advanced technology and rich experience in the design and construction of theme parks and characteristic towns. China Minmetals is looking forward to taking the signing of this strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to carry out all-round and in-depth cooperation with the General Administration of Sports in order to make a new and greater contribution to the high-quality development of sports and the improvement of health level and happiness index in China.

Gou Zhongwen thanked Guo Wenqing for his warm reception and expressed appreciation for the achievements made by China Minmetals and MCC Group as well as for their contribution to promoting the development of China's sports industry. He pointed out that the State Sports Administration has gradually opened up for more social forces to carry out strategic cooperation, so as to promote the common development of competitive sports and mass sports and shoulder the social responsibility of sports powers. With the unique advantages in the construction of stadiums and facilities, the design and construction of characteristic towns and theme parks, China Minmetals and MCC Group are expected to lay a solid foundation for the successful holding of major sports events and make due contributions to accelerating the construction of a strong sports country in an all-round way by means of the long-standing relationship between our two sides on the powerful and innovative cooperation in transforming the competitive football stadiums, designing and building small sports and leisure towns and constructing the ski training venues for the Winter Olympic Games.

The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific issues related to potential cooperation projects.

Under the joint witness of Mr. Guo Wenqing and Mr. Gou Zhongwen, the strategic cooperation agreement was signed by Mr. Zhang Zhaoxiang, China Minmetals Deputy General Manager and Party Group Member, and also MCC General Manager and Party Committee Secretary, and Mr. Li Yingchuan, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport of China.

Mr. Liu Cai-Ming, China Minmetals Deputy General Manager, Chief Accountant, Party Group Member also attended the activities, together with leaders from the Winter Sports Center of the General Administration of Sport namely Director Ni Huizhong and Deputy Director Hongjiang, Mr. Hu Guangyu, Deputy Director of Department of Policy and Regulations of General Administration of Sport of China and Executive Deputy Director of Olympic Preparation Office, as well as the relevant personnel of the relevant headquarter departments and enterprises directly under China Minmetals including Zhang Mengxing, Qu Yang, , Liu Fuming, Yue Qingrui, Xue Fei, He Jianbo, Zhou Qing, Zhang Huiqing, Tian Guixiang, Wang Wei, Yang Kui.
